Menstrual Cramps
Menstrual cramps are pains in the abdominal and pelvic areas that occur to women during menstrual period. The pain varies from woman to woman. Some may have mild cramps whereas others may have severe cramps. Mild menstrual cramps are negligible and usually last only for a few hours. In such cases, women may feel just a sense of bloating or heaviness in the stomach area. Severe cramps usually bring throbbing pain in the lower abdominal area and occasionally the lower back. The severe cramps affect women in their routine activities. Severe cramps may last for one or two days. Other symptoms of menstrual cramps include nausea and vomiting, sweating, dizziness, and loose stools. During menstruation the body releases a hormone called prostaglandins.
